I take it the air rifle pointed at the back of their heads was edited out, pity. :(

So, you don't like cats I take it.

Personally, I find anyone that can propose violence to any animal particularly unpleasant. Even as a joke.

Only if they really annoy me. Most times I'll usher them out of a window. (No, really.)

Incidentally, the video on the site with the cat completely failing to jump up to a shelf creases me up every time.

They're way smarter than me. I never manage to land a hit.

Anyway, I don't use an air rifle pointed at the back of their heads, if that's what you're asking. :|

Cat can be a pain (especially if the cat that's causing you trouble is someone else's) but they're generally benign in the grand scheme of things. They've caused the human race much less trouble than mosquitos. Also, cats are stubborn, they rarely give in to coercion.

As to the idea of violence against animals - I'm with Heather to a large degree. I try not to kill creatures that are being a nuisance simply by being themselves. If a fly/bee/wasp is banging against a window and making a noise, letting it out the window seems better and frankly less effort than killing it. Also with spiders; if it's in the bath or the sink that's because it's stuck there not because it wants to be. Catching it and putting it somewhere it wants to be and therefore out of your way is a much more mutually acceptable solution than you squashing it or something.

At the end of the day, everything deserves to live. I don't see the point (or the joy) in killing things for the sake of it. I can live with killing things to eat them but killing things because they're in your way seems entirely cruel and arrogant to me.

Jon

I agree with the sentiment, but cats are never happier than when annoying somebody (like me) who doesn't enjoy their company. If they would consent to being caught and put somewhere they want to be, that happens to be out of your way, I would be much happier with them.

Also, in my experience, girls I like to spend time with always seem to have the most annoying cats.

Like most domesticated animals, cats can sense when you don't like them. You're allergic to cat fur - as many people are - so your body language tells the cat you're not likely to be friendly.

Don't take it personally.
