We have reached the end times.
Is there no originality out in Hollywood at all? It's almost as if some wannabe artist decided the Mona Lisa wasn't good enough and ought to be repainted, with extra CGI.

That article refers to a prequel and a sequel, not a remake.
Even so, the failboat is being fueled.

That's what I read. I guess it's in a similar vein to the Star Wars prequels.

Which were a great big steaming pile of horse manure. I guess now TRON has fallen to the lure of a big budget sequel, there's no other huge science fiction properties left other than Blade Runner to mine. Sequel/prequel/remake - it doesn't really matter. I hope whatever gets made is better than the originating material, at least that way they'd be justified in doing whet they are currently planning. No, please just leave it alone. FFS, they are hellbent on milking every ounce. I'm not entirely against sequels/prequels/remakes, but they have killed the memory of so many great films. Why does it seem to be the sci-fi genre that gets the picked over most by the vultures. Let them remake Gone with the Wind or Calamity Jane and let some other [LIFTED] complain.

After the recent Thunderbirds movie I'm past the point of being shocked and/or disappointed by these exhumations of old material.

Why would you make a film when the only possible outcome is that it'll be worse than the original?

Probably they'll still make a shed load of cash. Next they'll be saying they'll remake 2001: A Space Odyssey and give it a happy ending.

Funny. I thought it did have a happy ending, of sorts.
