I've had a dry patch of skin on my right palm for ages now. It's always been there and seems to get better/worse randomly. Anyway, I just realised where it's from. I patch on my hand is almost exactly the same as the area that rests on the mouse when at work/home. I don't get it on my left hand at all. It's a standard Microsoft mouse that I'm using. Very strange. Anyone else get this? |

I really want to make some randomly inappropriate comment about this which has some sort of innuendo attached to it. However i can't seem to find the words or the right phrase for it so i'll leave it. But no, i've not experienced what you're talking about. |

Funnily enough, I've just noticed my mousing action involves only the ends of my fingers and thumb. Hardly ever does my palm actually come into contact with the mouse itself. (I use one of the older Apple Bluetooth meeces, about 11cm by 6.5cm in size.) |

I'm similar in that only my fingers actually move the mouse etc... However, the size of the mouse means that the erm... arse... of the mouse rests against my palm as I move it. |

Well, there's your problem right there. Never let your palm come into contact with a mouse's arse is my motto. ![]() |

Try another mouse then. I tend to grip mine between my thumb & little finger. Nothing else touches the mouse (except for clicking the buttons). I do occasionally rest the heel of my palm on the desk but that's a bad habit I should stop. |

Isn't that the way it's supposed to work? I've rested the heel on the desk since 1989, with no ill effects. |

This ^^ Far more flexibility of movement without the palm. |

Technically your hand shouldn't touch the desk or mouse when moving the mouse (or so some health & safety people say). I've not noticed it being a problem though |

I agree, which is why I don't use the palm of my hand to move the mouse. I can't avoid the contact though. |
