Apple's original Mac OS X 10.6.7 update had left many Macbook Air users complaining that their machines became unresponsive after launching Itunes.

Quote:
Apple has kept the description of this OS X 10.6.7 supplemental update pretty short, simply saying, "This update addresses an issue that makes the system unresponsive when using Itunes.

Good grief cant have a Mac user faced with the usual bloated crapware dogs abortion of a program that Windows users have to suffer with.

Aye. iTunes for windows is horrendous. I hate the syncing crap. Since my last sync, it's deleted half of my apps and I can't access any of my stored pics (not camera roll). I have had to delete stuff I downloaded off iTunes via iPhone because it would freeze the syncing. If I tried to avoid syncing all movies, it would have deleted them off the iPhone so I've had to lose a few to ensure everything else synced.

Can I just ask, and I'm not trolling here, why Windows users regularly slam iTunes?

I am a Mac user, and I have no problems with it at all on the Mac. I also use it daily on Windows, without any issues. I'm always plugging new iPods into it on Windows to set them up, and it never gives me any trouble.

What problems do Windows users have with it? I'm genuinely interested.

*edit* having just read cloaked_wolf's post properly, I've got a better idea!

I find iTunes for Windows to be slow and unresponsive. It gets worse if I plug my iPod in, I literally can't do anything until it's finished syncing. This should not happen on a quad core machine with 8GB of RAM. :?

I find that the latest version is like that, and I do have a quad core with 8 Gb of RAM, it wants to connect to the iTunes store before it does anything nowadays.

Amnesia10, Linux_User, do you have stuff like Ping turned on? I too find that when I do get the odd slowdown it's because it's trying to connect to the store.

Roll on Apple's new super mega data centre - hopefully it'll have broadband rather than sharing its dial-up with Dennis Publishing ;)

Haven't seen one of those jokes around here for some time. (8+)

What Apple product did you buy? And what problems did you have with it?

Unfortunately just about any media playing device will suffer a bit of downtime whilst you're syncing it. I'm intrigued by the "froze all the time" bit though - do you mean in general usage? If that was the case it was obviously faulty and should have been returned.

Regarding sync issues - all my iPods/iPhones have been set to "Manually manage music", <exaggerates> as I would require more flash memory than currently exists to get all my music onto one device </exaggerates>. Seriously, I have far more music than I could ever get on an iPhone, so I manually manage it - I actually find it good to think about what I might want to listen to rather than having everything on tap. But I digress; perhaps this is why I don't get syncing issues.
