Have any of you ever done it? Maybe you are with someone you met online?
I signed up a few days ago and just sent my first email. LOL!
What was your experience? Any tips to pass along?

Done it on and off for nearly 10 years, although I'm not on any sites now. Since I left university, the only girls I've dated were those I met on-line. One on an animé forum, one on a free dating site's forum and one through receiving a message. It can definitely work, but beware the false advertising. Caveats: Only 1% of the women you find profiles for are "active members" in any meaningful sense of the word. I've noticed some very nice profiles which are still there exactly the same as they were a decade ago. I'm pretty damned sure that Lucy from Leicester hasn't been 25 years old ever since 2001.
Only about 1% of those are actually paid up members on the premium sites. That means they probably can't read or reply to any messages you send. Maybe they can "wink" or something, but not actually talk to you.
The women are outnumbered by the men about 10:1 which is something you can easily prove yourself by doing searches for both.
The nicer looking girls can receive over 100 messages a day. They do not read them all; mostly they just look at a few of the pictures when they're bored.
Some of the most active girls really are prostitutes. There are some key alarm phrases to check for like "seeks generous man". From my personal experiences, I think OKCupid would probably suit you best. It's more "intellectual" than some, and the questions work well to bring out people's character. I know several couples that met on dating sites. However, I'm still single. That probably says more about me than the technology though

My friend, who's a pretty good looker but had bad luck with blokes, met her husband through online dating.
Whether that's an advertisment for it or not I couldn't say.

My friend Paul was chatting up some bird via a dating site. It turned out to be a Russian man trying to get into the country. Since then he's found someone without the need for a dating site.

I'm building one at work, it's trying to stop the stigma of it (it's already a successfull offline service) and setting up personalised introductions for people compared to men signing up to perve on the women that join There is always http://www.forgetdinner.co.uk/ and http://www.theuglybugball.com/index.php

If memory serves correct they were recently bought by match.com so dont expect it to stay free for long, or open
