I didn't get a chance to fill in my census yesterday so am sitting down to do it now.
Apart from the poll which I was going to put up at some stage anyway, I have a question, which may turn into questions...
Faye and I are engaged, does this legally make us partners? Or are we classed as relations - other, or unrelated?
Ta very much, Ben

I think the only answer available to you is: Never married and never registered a same-sex civil partnership. There don't seem to be any others relating to engagements or relationships before paperwork or ceremonies.
I'm filling in a paper one now.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

I would agree for section 4 of my individual questions. But I am the person filling this out, so my question relates more to section H6 "How are members of this household related to each other"

Unless you're Cletus and Brandine, you're not related nor will you ever be. Sorry to break the news.

It says on the form to contact them for a form if you don't get the form. Or you could do it on-line. You'd better do it, or the boys will be 'round.

I wonder if there will be a Europe wide census in the future.

I made a pigs ear of the paper copy, but I sent it off none-the-less.

I doubt it, it's a 'snapshot' of the UK. It's gone way beyond name, address and occupation though. Why the hell they need to know what type of heating you have in a Census I have no idea.

It's for historical purposes, so in years to come they can say that in 2011 x% of the population had a certain type of heating. Mrs. V. filled in the online thingy by the way. I would have "forgotten".

The claim is so it can be used by local authorities and central government for planning. Knowing what sort of heating you have, your shoe size, IQ, sexual preference and mean temperature means they can target services better and potentially save money. I'm still undecided on how to answer the question about my employer, seeing as I don't have one.

Surely your either going to be self-employed or unemployed in that case Heather.
I filled mine in online the day after it arrived in the post about a month ago. Was spot on in guessing that I'd be the only one in the house on the 27th as well.
I'm guessing the central heating question will be to provide information for provision of energy efficiency grants (assuming the survive the cuts).
