Did anyone watch this last night?

Louis Theroux went back to the family he visited 4 years ago.

I watched the entire program in disbelief that anyone can be like that. I think it was a combination of anger, pity and disbelief that I felt all the way through.

I felt most sorry for the kids who have been shown an example that if they don't do what they say they won't ever get to see their parents again. So they are trapped there unable to have an opinion or any friends.

You're right..it was really disappointing that such people exist in 2011. I'm surprised that none of them have been shot at when they picket funerals. Phelps' cult has a deep hatred of humanity and I couldn't see why they bother to try and spread their message to people outside their community as we're all going to hell anyway. If the population of Heaven is going to be made up of lunatics like that, then forget it. I wondered exactly which version of the Bible they were using as a basis for their beliefs....whatever happened to treating your neighbour as you would like to be treated yourself?

Why can't people whose lives are consumed to this extent by their beliefs (of whatever persuasion) just keep it to themselves?

Well done to the two ladies who had left. They seemed so much happier. :)

I said this to Nic too last night given the availability of guns in the USA!

Favourite quote for me was the mad woman and a (i think) student having a row at a picket. The mad woman said "look at you shaking with anger" or something along those lines and the girl replied "I'm shaking because I have MS!". Brilliant!

Yeah, I thought that too.

When they were picketing and there was a girl walking past asking something like "who gave you the right to insult people like this at someone's funeral" (or something). I was just picturing some sniper taking him out with a headshot.

It wouldn't be that difficult to be honest. Drive by with an uzi and take them all down... problem solved. (j/k BTW, I wouldn't actually do this)

Not sure, it's the Phelps (or Felps) family that are the main erm... nut-jobs who are running it.
