BBC's Rory Cellan-Jones recorded a conversation with one of those PC scammers. It's quite funny in places. http://audioboo.fm/boos/737724-another- ... ttack-callDo YOU know your CLS ID number?

I got a recording of the last time they called me. I'll have to dig it out.

Here's my experience from about a year or so ago. They got nasty when I told them that I didn't run Windows. http://hairydalek.posterous.com/windows ... department

Meybe we should all just keep them hanging on with increasingly convoluted conversations for the public good......

And as some appear to be quoting a ‘CLS’ number at you, you can have fun trying to get that number out of them AND finding how to identify that on your computer. Which, of course, is not running Windows.

I had one of these once, apparently my Windows PC had informed them that is was infected and wanted treatment, bless it. When I told them that couldn't possibly be true as I run Linux they said, quite genuinely, "Which version of Windows is that?"
