I posted a status update and it didn't appear so I posted again and both of them appeared.
So I deleted the first one and they both disappeared.
Posted again and all three then showed up... and now they've gone?!?

Its been very slow for ages on certain applications - almost to an unusable state.

Just chatting to a mate who's worried someone's hacked her account. She's deleted her cookies, reset the password twice and it still keeps logging her out. It also seems to think she's in Reading. She doesn't use any FB apps or anything, so it's not a rogue app. Very weird.

I gave up on facebook a while ago. Too much spam, too many security 'foul ups'. The final straw was when I got a friend request from my mother.

Setting myself up for a fall here, but I've never had any issues with it...

Neither have I, but in fairness that's because I've never used it. :etc:

Yeah, I've had my Aunt request me. That was bad. She was wishing me a happy birthday and I'm "friends" with her daughter (who I haven't spoken to, virtually or otherwise, for years) Limited profile! I wish I had the balls to quit.

+1, apart from the mother bit. Deleted my account back at the beginning of May, a few weeks before the "delete Facebook" day.

on the subject of facebook f-ups, i had a good one yesterday. i commented on a photo, and got a "posting failed: try again" message. id had it 5 times already, so i hammered the try again button until it went away. next thing i know, facebook wont load, when it finally did, i found out it had posted the message 17 times, and a friend had liked every single one. guess all events occurring so quickly caused an error when i tried to get on my homepage

the questions feature is spammy and annoying, like a perfect viral app, it can't be deleted - [LIFTED] off facebook, don't force [LIFTED] down our throats.

Yeah, I hate having to manually ignore stuff, and not click on things. Can't the software do it for me?

I've now succeeded in giving Facebook the elbow, but while I was still addicted I found Better Facebook a boon. It essentially gave you control over your page, what was displayed, what was allowed and even down to skinning the page to look less Facebooky.
The level of addiction still shows. I find myself absent-mindedly heading for where the bookmark used to be in Safari. I'm more aware of hobby stuff that implores me to "friend" them so they get their URL. On the other hand, I'm glad I decided to give it the push.
