Do you use yours?

I'm continually amazed at how good my local one is (though they've shut a few round here, and they never seemed to be struggling for customers  ), there's always some sort of very recent or slightly older book to catch my attention, and I don't really read fiction novels to give you an idea... The DVD rental service is excellent too - brand new titles for £1.50 a week :D

I must request some graphic novels if it's possible, now that I think of it... Anyway, I think libraries are awesome and to be celebrated, and fully intend to keep on using mine until I'm somehow incapable

Mine is ok. Not great. There are quite a few in Notts though so I think they can order me in a book from the others. Have used it a few times but mainly use it for Emily.

I do not use them primarily with my memory I would end up losing a fortune in library fines. So buy books instead.

We're lucky here. Two branch libraries within spitting distance, and the county central library a little further on.

Kent Libraries have an online MP3 download service for audio books, which is fantastic. I can also look up and reserve books, renew loans and whatnot through the interwebs.

I can't complain at our service, so I hope the local libraries won't get downsized.

I've just been looking at the online request feature for NI libraries, seems I need a PIN number. Wish I'd known that yesterday when I was in...

My local one is still here, for now. I imagine it won't be there much longer (libraries are being closed, but they haven't announced which yet).

Still, I haven't actually used it since they abolished the non-fiction and reference section.

I've not used our local library for something like 15 years. We used to go weekly during school holidays and take out books to read. Used to be awesome reading books whilst lying out on the grass in the garden. Unfortunately, with secondary school, we had homeworks/courseworks that would consume most ofthe holidays so what ever time there was free was spent doing other things. I used to take out a few fiction books now and then but slowly drifted out of reading for pleasure. After that, from GCSEs onwards, I used the school library for books need to complete homework/projects etc. Similar at university - used the library for reading articles/papers/textbooks related to my degree and nothing else.

It would be something like twelve years before I read for pleasure again, and it was Conan of all things that got me back into it. Since then, I tend to buy books rather than utilise the library, which I gather had gone downhill in the past ten years and may be about to close.

We've got a library in our village, but I've never even been in it.

I use our local library reasonably often. Good for CD's and audiobooks and though it has a good stock of DVD rentals, I think it's much more expensive than £1.50 for the week for new titles. Late fees for books are something like 10p a day!

Just looked online and renting new DVDs costs £3.00 for just 2 days, and a standard DVD is £1.95 for 3 days. :(

I think if more people knew about my local library they'd need to hire a lot more staff
