I have only watched a little segment of it. Mainly the news highlights so only a few minutes worth, but I do think that the media have gone overboard about the whole event. As to the cost the sums involved are minimal and it will cheer up many. If you are not that bothered go and do something else instead.

No you are right they do have a tendency to go overboard and milk an event to death.
