It seems that the number of applications being added each month is at last starting to fall. Even so the number of applications in there should reach 100,000 by the end of next month. http://www.148apps.com/10000/I wonder if we are going to start seeing more quality and a little less quantity.

How are you supposed to find what you want among 100,000 apps? How do you sort out the wheat from the chaff?

I guess the same way we always have. Read reviews, personal recommendation, magazines, podcasts, etc Also the app. store search features are helpful with top free, top paid and top grossing in any category. Then there is the new "Genius" feature of the iPhone that to be honest is pretty good. It makes recommendations based on apps that you have previously bought using it's knowledge of what other people have bought and liked. Also the applications are for the most part either free or very very low cost so if you do make the odd bad choice it is far from a catastrophe. CC

True, but I'll bet it's like Facebook apps. There'll be several that do more or less exactly the same thing.

In which case it does not matter, one piece of wheat is exactly the same as another piece. (The same goes for chaff of course). Sure there are several fart apps. but does it matter which one you choose?

Easy - you just click the handy 'search' button in the app store

So you found your 20 fart apps...which do you decide to get?

In that example, does it matter? It's a fart app! Presumably you might want to look for a review of a given fart app, like you would with anything else.

The reviews are a good place to start when looking for apps. Also check if there is a light fart app version so you can try it for free before you buy. Just as well the iPhone doesn't have smellyvision

I was really hoping that SDK 3 would allow for demo's to be produced. It's completely ridiculous having to develop and maintain two completely independant applications. That or use some very scary looking MAKE files.

Edd I'm really offended you didn't even laugh at my feeble jokes. What's the world coming to? *sigh*
