RIP. A great actor. Although best known as Columbo, he had some great film roles over the years as well.

Quote:
randfather:She doesn't get eaten by the eels at this time.

Grandson: What?

Grandfather:The eel doesn't get her. Now, I'm explaining to you
because you look nervous.

Grandson: I wasn't nervous. Well, maybe I was a little bit
concerned, but that's not the same thing.

Grandfather:Because we can stop now if you want.

Grandson: No, you could read a little bit more, if you want.

Just a little bit more. :(

Wonderful film, One of my personal favourites. He was also great in other comedies, and action films.

As far as I can tell he doesn't smoke a cigar while he says it so it's just not the same.

There was a stage production of Prescription:Murder on in Peterborough last year with Dirk Benedict. He was pretty good but I don't think anyone will ever match the original.

I watched the pilot ep of columbo the other day, You could see the beginning of his development.

I was never a fan as a kid because I found all "grown up" TV boring. When I was at uni, a friend told me the character was awesome. It was then that I watched Columbo and my prejudices melted away. I learnt how he would know who was the bad guy and then he would slowly coil around his "victim", until the pressure caused some of them to collapse. I loved his unassuming, almost idiotic approach when it was a covert way of finding information.

I have also recently watched the first two pilots. Very good. I will try and watch the rest when I get the chance. I was not so keen when younger but maybe it is something that you appreciate when older?

I think it was because it seemed an old series - probably because it was filmed in the 70s and had very little inthe way of action. My tastes in TV have also changed. Was going to post a thread about this kind of thing.

I haven't seen any bad jokes yet, but I'm keeping an eye out for them.
