ClickyI can see their reasoning, but I don't have problem with Pi.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

Why can't people use both? Personally I'll stick with Pi as it fits my needs for the calculations I do.

Maybe it's because I've just come back from holiday and my body clock hasn't adjusted back to UK time but that article wouldn't look out of place on The Daily Mash

Tau for calculation, I'd also rather have Tau pies than Pi pies

I voted tau but after a think, I'd rather stick with pi because tau is used for other things such as time constants in RC circuits.

I'd have taken the general attitude that anyone who cannot cope with writing 2Pi instead of Tau probably shouldn't be doing higher level mathematics.
There's also a lot of maths where one would be writing Tau/2 as well, which would be equally infuriating.
Given we can have two different symbols used for imaginary numbers (i and j), I don't see any harm in just having both tbh.

I personally prefer tau rather than 2 pie especially in restaurants.

It’s 28/6 here, so really it can’t be Tau day, can it? I look forward to the American PI backlash on 22nd of next month though.

Are these numpties serious? Good grief, who can't include the factor 2 in a calculation?

You have to admit though, having one pie equals two pi radians does sound a little silly.

I suppose it does sound silly, but only if you've done a reaosnably bit of maths at school. I have yet to encounter anyone who would divide up a pie using radian measurements. It's degrees or basic fractions for pie slicing, none of this tau or radians business, it just gets in the way of eating a good pie.

I had never hear of Tau until yesterday. The only previous reference I had for it was a game where Tau was equal to a speed very close (or equal) to the speed of light.
