I'll wait for confirmation from the Beeb before I start getting interested. |

The BBC will want to roll out the New Doctor in the Christmas/New Year special with an all fanfare regeneration episode. I find it unlikely that they will pre-empt this. They may put on some Dr Who thing for Children in Need. Nothing here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/s4/news/ You will be aware that the BBC is very, very keen to keep Dr Who story lines and developments secret. RTD said in an interview that story line leaks were destroying TV drama. He wants to keep such things well under wraps and let the audience discover the story at broadcast time. I agree with him on this - nothing like watching a programme with no idea of what is going to happen before hand. Makes you tune in. |

Seems we're in the minority on this though Paul. They even have those "next week" bits after each ep which I refuse to watch. Then there's a whole industry related to spoilers from keyboard warriors to those mags which tell exactly what will happen in soaps. It does rather seem to negate the point of watching television in the first place, but the people at large seem to like it ![]() |

We probably are, but I do like the surprise. When I was a kid, Dr Who was Saturday night TV and we never knew what was going on. I think that RTD and the BBC have got this right , and helped to capture what Dr Who did as a result.
I think in some cases, the industry is self-fulfilling and self-fuelling. The problem is that the programme makers have to spill the beans to keep the audience figures up, because the hype surrounding other shows has to be met and competed with and the most hyped shows get the viewers. |
