Probably my favourite sporting event of the year begins today, and for once (and I know there is a tendency to say this every year) Britain has a hope of winning. I'll hopefully be able to get there to see a couple of matches again this year.
With Nadal out, Murray could be considered second favourite to win. I would go so far as to say he has a good chance of making it to at least the semi-final this year. I'm not sure what to expect from Andy Roddick though; he was going strong last week at Queen's until his rather unfortunate ankle injury. If he's recovered, I expect him to do well this year too.
Thoughts?

I must confess that Henman never looked like winning it, ever. Why people kept on harping on as though he might have had a decent chance I have no idea.

But Wimby is awesome!!!!!! I must admit, I doubt Murray will win. I'd love to see it happen but there are a lot of strong players in the draw even with Nadal's absence. Federer is looking very strong. Djokovic not so much, I thought he looked unconvincing today. I'm sad to see Robson go out so early but I don't really think that's a massive surprise either. She'll have her chance at Wimbledon one day.

There's only one reason for watching Wimbledon, and that's for watching Sharapova's legs.

I do like to watch Wimbledon. More so since the advent of the red button - it's nice to be able to choose who you want to watch. I'd love to see Murray win it but, since he's the best chance we've had in decades, he's almost guaranteed to get tripped up in the early rounds. We're not meant to have a champion, we're just not. edit: To me, this reads like he waited to see the draw before pulling out, rather than the fact the draw was announced before his withdrawal was. I really hoped the Beeb was above this type of shoddy ambiguity.

1 set all the in the Murray-Kendrick match and so far, the 3rd has gone with service. Spreadie could be right.

Murray gets the break for a 4-2 lead in the 3rd set. For those who are interested, an iphone app to track Wimbledon scores is now available from the app store. Edit: yes, Edd

I'm so pleased that Spreadie was wrong (for now).
