Post subject:  London: veggie-friendly restaurants

Meeting up with some mates this weekend, two of whom are vegetarians. We all want to go some place decent (>£50/head ideally), around SE1 would be great but struggling to find any with vegetarian-friendly menus.

Any ideas or recommendations?

I'm tempted to ring up some of the restaurants and see what they can do.

Price doesn't have much to do with whether a restaurant is decent or not.

When we visited London in June, it was the two cheapest that gave the best service and the best quality food...

As to a good veggie friendly Restaurant, I can't really help there.

Edit: Bleh! bloody automatic type correction! :D

Have a look at the menu here: http://www.leonrestaurants.co.uk/
Good food, but I have no idea if that's the type of thing you have in mind.
Of course, I'm reminded of Frankie Boyle's vegetarian option... ;)

This is true. In my experience the vegetarian option usually is a good indicator of the quality of the rest of the food. If the chef has bothered to do something good for vegetarians, then it’s very likely that the rest of the menu is of good quality. If it’s aubergine lasagne or nut roast, then I’m not expecting too much from the rest of the menu. This is something that my parents seem to agree with me on (my mum being a vegetarian).

My housemate is the cocktail guy HERE - it's a little out of your way, but apparently it's quite good.

Otherwise there's a great veggie Indian called Chutneys behind Euston station. Highly recommended :)

I think that's next door to Zeen, another awesome Indian restaurant, plenty of veggie stuff there.

I agree about veggie options on a menu. The places my veggie friends have enjoyed tend to be very good throughout their menu.

Wanted to go to a Michelin-starred restaurant, mainly just to experience it. Or even just a nice fancy-pants restaurant. We haven't seen each other for maybe two years.

I'd say asian/fusion food then. French and Italian don't do veggie.

The closest I can come is that apparently Masterchef did one of their challenge things in Zeen :(
