Having recently come across this web page featuring a fully playable version of the Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy text based adventure, I thought there would be good mileage to be had from a nostalgia thread.

For those who've only ever known iOS and OSX, get that original Mac OS feel here:

:D

Those were the days, weren't they: no colour, extension conflicts, Font/DA Mover...

I might go fire up the Mac Plus.

No pics but............

Mac plus ????

I remember, as a young analyst prog learning Apple Basic and then writing for BSC (British Steel Corp for you youngun's) a stock control system for their fine wire production unit in Stocksbridge just outside of Sheffield way back in the early 1980's. I used an Apple II with those 2 x 5 inch external floppy drives to develop the system. For actually running it we really blew the budget with a massive 8" (or it could have been 9") floppy drive that was SO much faster and a special graphics chip that allowed me to display 80 chars per line rather than the normal 40. Cutting edge stuff huh lol

I inserted the graphics chip myself and in doing so bent one of the legs !!! It was an expensive chip and believe me when I say I sweated blood as I very carefully straightened it and pushed it home.

Ahhhhhh the old days..........................
