Over the last few days a mate and I have been playing pitch and putt and I must say I'm really enjoying it. I got less than a foot away from the hole off the T.

My question is does anyone have any suggestions for clubs. A putter and a driver/iron for T-offing, not up on the lingo yet. I'm just after a couple of reasonable clubs for messing around with as I'm not sure if it's a hobby that will stick.

Any ideas of good golf supplies shops would be nice too.

You can get some half sets I think, American Golf outlet are a good place to go, they have a pracice range bit where you can try it and see how your swing works and then get clubs that suit your style.

They also do a wide range of prices too

I got a set from there, was £150 or so with bag etc for a full set so a half set (3/5 wood, a few irons, sand/pitch/loft wedge and putter) shouldnt be too much

Keep an eye ion the small ads in the local papers as you can get some good bargins, also have a word with the guys at the pitch and put or local driving range as they sometimes have good second hand clubs for sale. Don't worry about getting a matched set to start with, for pitch and put the bare minimum are a 3 Iron, 7 Iron and putter, then a 3 wood and a sand wedge, after that you can worry about the rest of you are still interested. Do try to have a swing them before you buy as the length of the shaft can vary and have a major effect on your game.

Find your local golf store that has a driving range and try some out. They usually have a Pro on hand to give you a little guidance.

I wouldn't recommend buying golf clubs without trying them first somewhere - I've played with some clubs that people rave about and I just don't like the "feel" of them. Maybe it''s just me...

It's good advice, I will be trying out some clubs at my local golf club and then scour the net for the best deal.
