Can't find the original thread ;)

That's going nowhere as a result of the Scots it seems, and I personally am glad as I've never been a sun worshipper and my eyes suffer with glare anyway.

Plus the dark just means less prats on the walk to work in the mornings, I think it scares them

England should go ahead and do it without Scotland.

What about the farmers? Wasn't this tried before? Didn't it turn out to be not such a good idea after all?

Or maybe I dreamt it... ;-)

Cows need milking whether it's GMT, BST or CET.

I vote we leave the clocks at GMT and be done with it.

TBH I'd be happy if all clocks could be magically changed so that midday was when the Sun was the highest in the sky. Makes telling the time and working out your heading much easier.

Why would it make working out your heading easier? Surely you just need to take a look at the sun at the start of your journey and go off that information, changing the time doesn't change the position or behaviour of the sun. Also, watches are good for telling the time :p

Now with added 'change your vote later if you want' poll :)

GMT is pretty close to the local time for most places in Britain so it makes sense to use it. If some people want to get up earlier in the summer, I'm not stopping them. Personally it takes me months for my body clock to adjust (maybe I was a cow in a previous life) leading to hundreds of hours of lost sleep. I very much object to being tortured in this way.

Forcing everyone to f*ck around with the clocks also costs the world a fortune in this day and age were so many systems are time-dependant. The number of systems that do not automagically change twice a year is vast; and that's a lot of wasted engineering time sorting out a purely invented problem.

I see what you did there! 8-)

As for headings, if you point the hour hand of a glass watch in the same direction as the Sun and imagine a line midway between the hour hand and twelve o'clock position, that's south.

I'll happily have darker mornings and lighter evenings.

I'm awake and I have to drive. TBH having some light makes it easier/less dangerous.

How about if we did GMT in winter for the light mornings and GMT+2 in the summer for the long evenings?

What we should do is figure out a way to stabilise the Earth's axis so it's exactly 12 hours daylight and 12 hours night all the way through the year. Would stop any silly arguments or experiments!
