I remember mine fondly from when it had a tape deck, a 5.25in FDD and finally a word processor and paint package on ROMS that someone installed for us. I used a mouse for the paint package. Oh and original Elite FTMFW!

I still have it. Annoyingly I have the tape version of Elite, which means I have to disconnect the floppy drives and reboot to release the disk buffer memory to load the tape.
Still boots faster than anything else I have. I think it's about 0.1 seconds from power on to prompt.

My first task as a techie.. oooh... years ago now, was to shut down and dismantle a network of BBC micros that were being replaced by PCs. Really wish I'd kept one of them TBH...

I still have mine in a box in the loft. I'm not sure I still have the tape player though.
Are they worth anything these days ?

Depends. If you get it down from the loft and want to power it up, I’d suggest doing some where the smell of burning components won’t matter too much. There is a capacitor in the PSU which, if left idle for a few years, can pop around 15 minutes after the machine is switched on. This is repairable, but worth knowing about in advance. This is why I boot my A305 every so often - just in case. Mine is at my parent’s house - along with floppies, Music 500 and an AMX mouse - which is what sounds like James016 has.

Sadly I don't have it any more, it died a long time ago and I upgraded to an A5000. They really were no nonsense stuff. This site is worth a visit or 10. http://www.beebgames.com/welcome.php I did have the emulator working at one point. To play SpyCat

QFMFT! At some point in the future when I have a large enough house I want a library with one section dedicated to all the computers/consoles I've owned and I shall trawl the interweb looking for a BBC Model B.... Until then that shall remain a sado idea.

When the day comes, you can have mine - complete with original 14" CUB colour monitor. I've been trying to find it a loving home for years. Just can't bring myself to "recycle" it

I really wish you hadn't said that. I know my other half will really regret me reading that too.

Really must put the finishing touches to my computer museum web site. By "museum" I mean "cupboard stuffed with old computers".
