I'll believe it when I see it.

Very few people are going to shell out hundreds of quids for a new TV if the only thing you can say for it is 'it's thinner'. The same way most people don't feel the need to have projectors and screens, most people won't feel the need to have a whole wall that turns into a telly.

The AV industry's increasingly frenzied attempts to get people to pay large sums of wonga for what are, from the user's perspective, at best marginal incremental improvements isn't doing anyone any favours.

I think this will be pinnacle of visual displays, not just for media but for changing the scene of an entire room. Of course they'll be pretty expensive to start with, but as costs come down and markets exit recession then my guess is that this will be the must have accessory.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

They are, of course, talking about digital wallpaper - in the truest sense of the word.

Indeed.

However, if it happens within the next 20 years, I'll be very surprised tbh

Just think no more decorating :D

Install QD Wallpaper / Curtains / Carpets

SWMBO wants to go Magnolia – no problem. Next week wants Green – easy

I think I shall want all the surfaces / furniture coated in them

OK, so all we need to do is find a half African, half Chinese, half Asian, gay, one eyed, wheelchair bound dwarf with tourettes and a lisp, and a st st stutter and we could make the best panel show ever.

Imagine one where each “pixel” is a piece of fibre optic.
