got my 70-200mm damaged lens on ebay now :( I dont use it anymore so it will save it rotting to dust, someone on here showed me the same lens but worse condition that sold for £492 O_O

someone asked me this on ebay

Don't sell early. Wait for the auction to end, if it's too low with an hour to go, use another account to bid for it (this is illegal but I've always managed to sleep at night after doing it (it usually isn't necessary, especially for such a popular item.).

Depending on more knowledgeable folks camera-wise of course, you could always adjust the auction to a 'buy it now' or whatever. Worth remembering eBay and Paypal will want their cut...

Exactly. He's letting you know that at least one person is prepared to pay £500, chances are the final figure will be over £500. I've always rejected offers like that to end early and the final price has always been higher than any offers.

I always create auctions starting at 99p no reserve for 10 days.

Besides I've always done it to end the auction, I put in a bid for something like £1,000 for a £30 item. And I have in the past lowered an amount after the final bid, ie charged someone less than they bid because i felt he was overpaying, he could have got it for new for less than he bid.

So please don't insinuate I defraud people, there's a difference between disregarding rules and knowing what's right and wrong, I find that obnoxious pricks tend to not understand the difference.

Oh how kind of you, after artificially inflating the price, you found it in your heart to lower it back down a bit. Personally I'd rather a court of law decided if your motives are pure or you are motivated by greed, but IMO you have committed fraud within the meaning of the Fraud Act 2006.

Bratty I've just bid max 200 gbp for your lens and that has pushed the current bid up to 125 gbp. Before anyone complains of fraud, I will pay 200 gbp for that lens.

It looks like you've only just put it on for a 7 day auction. You will be up to the 400-500 mark after 5 days, and in the last few hours I expect it to reach 650-700. The previous lens I mentioned to you wasn't working and that got 500, however I've just seen that you've lost the lens cap / tripod collar etc. so perhaps those prices may drop a little.

*bites tongue on taking care of equipment subject* :P
