Anybody got one/them?
Thinking of getting one for my room, any advice or thoughts in general appreciated. They're reasonably priced now* and take a standard fitting so I figure why not...
* Assuming the stated 'life' is correct

If you don't mind a hideous blue light, they're great, but if you like your light at less than 4k I'd say steer clear. |

Were you using a particular brand? Phillips' give a red/pinkish hue, apparently...

Had some crap ones with lots of little leds. They were crap, low powered and a slight blue tinge to the light. Just bought a higher powered single led version, soooooo much better. Bright white light, but the tenner it cost put me off replacing the rest of the halogen belts. We got it from homebase. |

Yup, we're slowly replacing the GU10s in the kitchen with the Philips versions - £7.99 in our local Sainsburys, or £8.99 off play.com. |

I have Philips' LEDs for bedside lights, strong, cold light and tightly focused, which is what we wanted - the old Ikea bedside lamps gave off too wide a beam, which annoyed my gf, when I was reading, it was just at the right level to "blind" her, when she came into the room. |

We've been thinking about replacing the candle bulbs in our living room uplighters. The ordinary bulbs don't last long, and get expensive to replace after a while. While the LED ones are eight quid a go - we need six in all - the outlay will be a saving in the long run. As the predicted lifespan of the LEDs is about 35 years, they will probably outlast both me and Best Beloved! |

Actually, really well. We've got one of the older multi-LED types in, and while it's outlasted most of the others, it's clearly a very blue light. I set my camera to a daylight white balance and took a pic of each type for you (if it's of any help):    In fairness, it's a clear blue sky out there, and that's a white ceiling... |

I honestly think you wouldn't notice the difference unless it was pointed out to you, unlike the older LED bulb which is quite obvious. |

The Philips bulbs are also a white light, not blue. |
