BBC's Rory Cellan-Jones recorded a conversation with one of those PC scammers. It's quite funny in places.

Here's my experience from about a year or so ago. They got nasty when I told them that I didn't run Windows.

ive had about 5 of these

just say which computer, say you have 3, always fun.

today however I couldnt be arsed to waste my time with them, so I said hold on a sec while I "booted up my pc" aka carried on watching the battle scene from LOTR Two towers

And as some appear to be quoting a ‘CLS’ number at you, you can have fun trying to get that number out of them AND finding how to identify that on your computer.

Which, of course, is not running Windows. :lol:

I had one of these once, apparently my Windows PC had informed them that is was infected and wanted treatment, bless it. When I told them that couldn't possibly be true as I run Linux they said, quite genuinely, "Which version of Windows is that?"
