Back in my yoof ( 5 years ago lol)I studied pure math. then switched to engineering after 2 years.
If you want a hand with anything give me a shout. Especially group theory.

Even the mention of Open University makes me think of dodgy 70's hair cuts and clothing on early morning TV.

I went to Uni to do maths but dropped out after 2 years (youth and naivety before you ask).

I LOVED the group theory (and number theory in general).

Also loved the proof stuff.

Looking forward to it :D

I may be calling on your expertise though as this was all 9 years ago :?

The OU TV shows are still much better than the offerings of today.

They still use some of those showns esp for the introductory modules - afterall basic maths is basic maths so no need to re-do them

My Physics tutor was a yound undergraduate who was in some of the physics modules - still has the same suit to :D

I recently tried to abandon History and switch to Politics ad philosophy for my final two courses. But I am finding that the web based process for this is quite incomprehensible. Perhaps this implies that I should look at less challenging courses :(

WTMF!

When I was looking at this 18 months ago a 30 point module (the standard size module) was £360.

Now the same module is £1250!

WTF!

I may have to rethink this idea.

Yep, the same price changes that apply to other universities are also hitting the OU. I get to finish my stuff at the old prices as long as I decide my remaining courses in advance and stick to an inflexible schedule. New applicants are looking at spending about 2.5K per year for a standard 6 year degree.

There's one of those e-petitions to sign here if you disapprove http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/22316

There's lots of other distance learning organisations - as a fresh starter you might find Harvard cheaper than the OU for all I know.

Ah, might have a look round.

It's not quite so bad if you're Welsh.

Indeed, I had no idea my spurious vanity degree was adding so much to the national debt.
