Post subject: | Cycling question |
I know there are one or two cyclists among us, so I'd like to pose a question. I got myself a folding full-sized bike last year. The idea was that the bike would go in my ickle car and be used to extend my range when out photographicating. While I have a decent camera gear backpack, I would like to get some decent panniers for the bike. I want to be able to carry my camera, a few lenses, some bits and bobs and a tripod. It would be great to have some extra space available for wet weather gear or to put a jacket in when I get warmed up. The pannier bags have to be properly waterproof. Needless to say, I'm not willing to spend big bucks on this gear, but I'm open any suggestions. So, anyone with any experiences and recommendations they'd care to share? |

My mate biked through Mexico, and met bikers who were biking from Canada to the south pole, so if there's a topic he could give advice on, it's good panniers. he swears by this site: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Cate ... goryID=513 but I'll drop him a line for a specific recommendation. He said it was an area worth spending your money on, but then he says that about everything to do with his bike. |

He said if you want quality get Altura or Ortlieb. However he recommended buying a cheap pannier and using a dry bag stuffsack inside the pannier. |

have a look on Bike radar, cycle chat or yacf there will be loads of answers. I always wrap my stuff in bin liners if it's going to be really wet.... |

That's a good plan, and one I generally follow too. Ta for the links. I'll check them out shortly. This cycling lark is a whole other hobby I'm discovering. I just wanted some personal transport to get myself healthier, but it's like most things with an enthusiastic following - a money pit if you aren't careful! ![]() |

My mate (who's a pilot for emirates) owns a bike that I swear defies the laws of physics, it feels like picking up a carton of milk. All carbon fibre, and I want one ![]() |
