not sure how to explain as title may be misleading, what Im after bigtime is 80s films with the perfect "80s" feel and atmosphere to it, eg breakfast club, blue brothers original one(?) I bought a film called "killer clowns from outer space" few days ago, sounds crap but it was made in 1988 and is an awesome film O_O especially the music in it, it just surpasses all modern crap in modern crap films. I need anyone who has knowledge of films from that decade ![]() ![]() edit: to be ironic Im not too keen on the back to the future films, same as "the navigator" dunno why |

I prefer 1970s but some of my favourite (fun) 80s films: Uncle Buck Home Alone They Live Coming to America Planes Trains and Automobiles Batteries Not Included The Princess Bride Predator Lethal Weapon Crocodile Dundee Ferris Bueller's Day Off Top Gun The Breakfast Club The Terminator The Karate Kid Superman 3 (really underrated) The Thing Escape From New York Airplane! |

Highlander, Robocop (in it's own way), Raw Deal (anything by Arnie really), They Live, actually, look up John Carpenter's 80's output on Wiki for a good start... |

You're wrong about back to the future btw, but I know where you're coming from with flight of the navigator. Despite having seen it about eighty million times, it's always left me cold, even starring a young Sarah Jessica Parker. A similar, though not great film, but better than flight of the navigator is D.A.R.Y.L. Oops, I'm starting, best stop. |

I was on Amazon yesterday looking at PCs. Killer Clowns was highlighted as a product I may be interested in. ![]() I know you are looking for films set in the 80s, rather than just being made in the 80s, but you've opened a can of worms. Some of the films just ooze 80s even though they may be futuristic sci-fi or historical action. Ernie has made a good point about John Carpenter, and I would suggest David Cronenberg too. The 80s were very good for horror, and there were many films that spooked me. They either desensitised me or they don't make films like they used to. ![]() Aliens Raiders of the lost ark Temple of Doom Scanners The Fly The Evil Dead I & II Die Hard The Abyss An American Werewolf in London Lair of the White Worm ![]() Hellraiser Red Dawn Innerspace Clash of the Titans Labyrinth Spaceballs Lethal Weapon The Terminator Dragnet Enemy Mine The Untouchables Flash Gordon Phantasm II Mad Max II |

There were a whole load of yuppie comedies in the 80's which have dated very badly. Working Girl: ![]() The secret of my success Risky business All the right moves In fact most of Tom Cruise's 80's output: Legend Top Gun The Color of Money Cocktail EDIT: 9½ Weeks 48 hrs (actually worth seeing) Beverly Hills Cop Any of the early Nightmare on Elm Street movies (only the first one is any good though) Body Heat |
