I think the quality of films overall is the problem, not the quantity. Even with the supes, Deadpool showed what could be done on a much smaller budget. But they keep rushing these things because they know they'll make a fortune no matter what. WB is a prime example of that, though even they clearly know that's unsustainable long term. Either way, Disney will rule the roost almost forever now. Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar... Bar a few household names that usually have two years between films, nobody will be meaningfully challenging them any time soon. Fox is a fcuking mess right now in terms of big releases, Sony is basically having to start everything all over again, and Universal is pinning it's hopes on literal monster franchises.
