got a random missed call from number +255754525511 and they left a voicemail, it was an Indian saying about my family loss which they said was my mum, they were close it was my aunt down in England that had just died and the funeral is today actually but how did random Indian know of family loss? he then started speaking about hes phoning from London and at the end he quoted my full name and where I live. How is this possible? anyone know who it is Its like some sort of psychic scam caller or something

I'm guessing somebody somewhere sold your information. Could easily be a dodgy employee at a hospital / morgue / funeral directors / registrars etc.

Electoral roll? Phone bill? Bank account? the list goes on.... The only way to not give your info out to anyone is to live in a cave.

It could also just be a coincidence with the timing.

Bratty, there's a mention of that number on the Who Calls Me website (unless this is you reporting it?)... http://whocallsme.com/Phone-Number.aspx/255754525511(this is always my first port of call when I get a call I don't recognise!) What were they actually wanting from you - or did you not give them a chance to ask that? As long as you give them no info - especially financial! - then you shouldn't worry. Just hang up if they ring again, or block it if your mobile allows that feature.

I would contact your bank ASAP. Many years ago, I had a bank statement go missing in the post, intercepted by some devious so-and-so. Anyway, I started getting bills sent for at least 5 or 6 mobile phone contracts that this @rsehole had used my bank statement to sign up with, some of them were for hundreds of pounds. Took about 6 months of stress to convince these mobile phone suppliers that it wasn't me that had signed up for these mobile phones. Anyway, that's another story... If you suspect something fishy is going on here, it's best to contact your bank at the earliest opportunity. Ask them the reason why they've issued you with another card, there might be a perfectly innocent explanation, but I would want to know why, especially as you say the expiry date isn't due for a while yet. I've got a feeling that Electron is being phased out and replaced with Visa Debit cards, but don't quote me on that! In any case, if it's like HSBC, they wait until your existing card is due to run out before sending you a Visa Debit version. Could this be related to your previous thread where someone suggested you may have a keylogger lurking on your PC? viewtopic.php?f=26&t=16446(just thinking aloud here!)

well its good timing as Ive remembered that I complained to the bank that Im seeing £11 pounds taken out my account every month consistently and no idea what it is and I asked them to block it and look into it etc, maybe this is why or dunno

Ah, that could be why they've issued you with a new card then! If they suspect fraud, they might block your existing card and issue a new one - in extreme cases, they'll close the existing current account and issue you with a new account number too. Though they should have told you they were doing this, check any letters you've received recently from your bank - if it's an online-only account, they'll be a messages section probably.

Electron has been withdrawn as a card type and it is (for creditworth customers) replaced with a Visa Debit They should have explained that in the bumph that comes with the card
