Some people here were fined a couple of years ago. Something about their bin lid not closing properly IIRC. |

£80? So still only £10 less than the default fine for shop lifting these days. As if leaving a lid slightly up can be called a crime. My solution. Leave the bin 1 inch on my driveway. That way if they ever try to fine me, I can point out that I hadn't actually put my bin out. It was on my land and the council has no right to tell me whereabouts on my land I should keep it. |

My Local Authority tell me which day they're collecting my bin not what time. How is it possible to put your bin out an hour early? |

I put my bins out the evening before, as do most people on my street. (Mainly because they seem to be emptied at about 07:30.) |

In my area, they don't get nasty about it but there is 'advice' that you should put your bin out after 10PM on the night before collections. I can't imagine people with young children (or people who work odd hours) would welcome the amount of noise that causes.. |

Same here, our bins are emptied between 04:30 and 11:00.
Too late for us, we are usually in bed before 9:30PM during the week. |

That's a bit early. What time do you get up? I try and do my bins the night before but sometimes it's a mad dash in the morning before I go to work. |

My gf is kitchen manager in the distribution kitchen in a retirement home. That means she has to be there for around 06:00, she would get up at 04:30 and go with the dog, but I go with the dog at 05:00, so I get an extra 30 minutes of shuteye! |

Getting up at 6am is bad enough although the earliest I've had to be at work was 5am when I worked for the press. Meant getting up at 3.30am! Wrong! Just wrong lol |

The bins are being collected in my village as I drive to work although sometimes they reach my house just before I leave, so I put them out at the night before after all the kids have stopped playing in the streets. The problem is, I put them out nice and neatly as do most of my neighbours. The waste collection professionals then scatter them all over the pavements and the wind proceeds to separate lids further and further from recycling containers until around 6pm when people come home from work... |

This week is the big bin collection, so it's: Household rubbish Kitchen waste Garden waste Paper Plastic There are five separate vehicles involved in this collection. I wonder where the line between separating rubbish and keeping CO2 emissions down is drawn, because 5 diesel trucks in my books is not very green when one or even two would suffice. |

Wow. That sounds like a classic example of acting to the letter rather than in the spirit of a well intended rule. We only have a single vehicle doing the collections which alternate each week. The one tomorrow has a big hole at the back for garden waste, and a little hole in the side for glass and paper. |

I think N.Warwickshire Council must be very liberal (in a good way) the people in our villages put their bins and recycling or green bins out on a Monday, the bins are emptied Tuesday and the recycling or green bins are emptied Wednesday. I tend to put our out the night before otherwise I forget, but I'm one of the few that doesn't just do it at the start of the week. |
