This is a long shot but I dont think I will be able to explain properly years ago probably in the mid 90's I saw a weird programme on normal tv which was like a puppet show animation type thing but with woolen models? and it was victorian or earlier themed, all the woman wore vintage style big dresses and it was a really depressing programme with a sad depressing ending with a boat, I think it was some form of trippy love story or something, I was facinated by this programme as a kid, can remember it had a lot of jealousy in the story too, ill try add more when I remember more stuff of it its like a trippy dream

The only woollen doll puppet programme with a boat in it that I can think of is Rosie and Jim. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwYP6eesX9E

The Riddlers? Only they weren't woolen and I only have the vaguest memory of them...

Aaarrrghh! I think I know what Bratty's talking about. These were wooden puppets but were small. I vaguely recall one had a red hat and a blue top.

I misread it as wooden. Serves me right. I'm now gonna struggle to sleep trying to remember what the hell I was thinking of.

Sounds like a RagDoll production - and the only thing I can think of that fits the description that isn’t Rose and Jim is Tots TV. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tots_TVThe thing is here, I don’t think there was a boat involved. Rosie and Jim was set on a narrow boat, and may have had more of a Victorian undercurrent. Both of these are for children, though.

its definatly not rosie and jim, if I recall there was a monster in it too that stood on 2 legs like a human, the models used may well be wooden actually. I remember a scene where a lady drops off a high balcony to suicide dying to know the show

The only other thing I can think of which feels like it fits was Tottie: The Story of a Doll’s House. It was a kid’s animation, but was pretty dark. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tottie:_Th ... ll's_House
