I've started watching CSI because Ted Danson is in it and I love him.

Do you watch a show or film because of the actor/actress starring in it? Would you watch a film with a bad review if someone you liked was it in?

Generally it's the content of the show. There are very few actors/actresses who I will watch regardless of what's actually going on. In fact, I can't think of one off the top of my head.

Content and reviews are my thing, with the focus on content. I couldn't care who's starring really.

I have to say though, it seems to be women who get wound-up about male stars, IME. I know a few women who won't watch anything starring Bruce Willis or Christian Bale  :?

My step mum won't watch anything with Jim Carrey in it.

I won't watch anything with Jim Carrey in it either, thoroughly repellent and unfunny individual.

Jim Carey does the same character in every film with the exception of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Can't stand Tom Cruise myself but I have watched his films in the past. I am absolutely gutted they chose him to be Jack Reacher. He couldn't be more opposite in looks and stature!

Actually, the content of Adam Sandler and Ben Stiller films mean they're usually best avoided...

I've watched Jason Statham films just because it says Jason Statham is in it, so I know it's going to be about Jason Statham and explosions. Not particularly because Jason Statham is one of my favourite actors.

Jason Statham.

I know what you mean, but it might work out as a film in it's own right, Mel Gibson* is nothing like Parker from the novels but he 'owned the tone' to paraphrase something awful I heard recently

I avoid any films which feature either of those two. Unfunny and cringeworthy.

I like them both. Loved 50 First Dates and the Meet the Fockers series *hides*

Exactly like Ricky Gervais.

There are a few things I've watched because "Oooh it's got him / her in it!". Generally I only go out of my way to watch something if it fits my very narrow interest range or if it's been recommended.
