Thoughts please? Alternatives?
Looking for a way to share photos with other people that don't involve Facebook and/or anything else with privacy or IP/ownership issues.
So far, I'm thinking my home webspace is the safest! But that's only 250mb.

I take it you have issues with Photobucket then? Nice simple password protected galleries, although you can still hot-link if you want to. Or the other usual culprit being Flickr, often recommended as the better option.
Picasa I understand people do have issues with...

Didn't know that. Read it last night. For the record, don't really want Instagram, it was just a name that I'd heard. Thanks for all the suggestions, I'll have a look at them all and come back.

Right, looked at all those and also discovered Imgur. So far, looking like that, and maybe Streamzoo, are the favourites with simplicity, privacy and quality in mind. Also needs to be easy on Android.
