dunno if this is the appropiate forum to ask but In order to run a mod for a game I want to play I need to run the steam program as Administrator, I never have made an admin account on my windows XP my user is logged in as just the letter D so if I try right click the steam "run as" then I choose administrator it says "unknown username or bad password" how can I fix this?

Rather than looking at D, try creating a new user with admin rights through control panel -> users etc

I think if you go into windows via safe mode, the administrator account should be available and you could try giving the D account admin rights from there.
What confuses me is that if the D account is the only account on the computer, then it should automatically have admin rights anyway.

That's what I thought too, but it didn't seem pertinent as he stated D was the only account. David, how many accounts are listed in the Users control panel? Mark

If you have the "Steam" icon on your desktop what happens if you right click on it and pick "run as administrator" ?
