I need some help here. Boss is due to leave this friday. He's been my supervisor for three years during my training and it's only really down to him that I passed my training. The entire workplace had a lunch for him yesterday and we gave him a present (track day with a ferrari).

The dozy git has given me a present today. Nothing special but a medical text that would be useful.

I feel compelled to get him something and I've no idea. I have only till Friday. Booze is backup but I would like somethig a bit more longlasting.

As long is his name's not McRae.

When I choose gifts I try to get some thing that the recipient will use frequently, and be in no doubt about who it came from.

I don't want it to be particularly expensive. The book he got me was about £40 so I'm expecting to spend around £50 max.

He's not a gamer. I might just give him one of my R-Pis.

Might I suggest a nose through the 'Svetlana' thread for ideas?

Don't you sometimes get good deals on those cinema passes? ... can you actually buy Amazon Prime for someone else? :?

My back up plan is an R-Pi and a decent bottle of bubbly.

I was gonna get an RC chopper but at £50 only the crappy ones can be had.

Did anyone get a decent photo of the whole lot of you at the lunch? Sometimes a print can make a nice farewell gift when framed.

The original gift was going to be a photo of us all standing outside the surgery. Given that he had mixed feelings about some of the staff, I thought he probably didn't want to be reminded of us each and every day. Hence I suggested a track day or flying lesson. This is the present from the workplace.

But it's usual for mentors to give presents to their trainees.
