Sorry, UltraViolet copy? What on earth is that for? And why don't they seem to do DVD+BluRay tripple play discs on new releases these days? |

Lets you stream it through a digital locker to your device via the cloud and other bullsh1t terms IIRC  I can't imagine many people bother tbh, I mean you did just buy the BR version  EDIT - I see loads of triple play films but I'm usually looking at the more mainstream stuff. |

I'm going to buy the BluRay version. But I'd like to rip the DVD to my laptop at full quality. |

You can rip blurays you know. What I find daft is because Apple haven't gone with the Ultraviolet shenanigans, they have to offer an Ultraviolet copy and a Digital Copy (which basically means an iTunes copy) so therefore exactly the same data wrapped in two different DRM chastity belts. Oh the stupidity. Tell you what F**ktards, since your film will be on the torrent sites anyway within hours of it hitting the shelves (because, as I say, you can easily rip blurays), why not just put a bloody unDRMed MP4 on there and stop all this idiotic mucking about? Hmmm. Maybe I should get Pavtube Blu-ray Ripper and give it a go. I'm sure the legallities are the same for backing up BluRays as they are or backing up DVDs. |

Technically, you'd be in breach of the DMCA in the USA or whatever that EU equivalent is that I can never remember the name of over here. But frankly, unless you post it on alt.binaries.movies with your name and address hallmarked on the first 10 minutes of the film, who give a flying one? They're giving you a digital file anyway, all you're doing is making one yourself that isn't so utterly stupid. Jon |

Much easier just to download a DRM-free copy off Piratebay than faff around with all that. |

Na. I don't do that sort of thing. I always buy a physical copy and rip my own digital backup. That way I've paid my fair share to the film maker and I don't run the risk of of getting a virus from a dodgy copy. |

Of course you should buy it, but it only takes about 5 minutes to download a professional quality rip that will play on anything. That's so much easier and quicker than ripping it yourself. |

Not at present no. You have to use another piece of software to rip to an MKV file first, then convert that to MP4 using Handbrake. Jon |
