He's lucky to get 3mb! Can't remember the address, but google samknows and that site tells you ehat's available in your area and when, if ever, you'll get bt infinity.

Or just go to Zen's website http://www.zen.co.uk and pop the phone number in and it should tell you what you can get.

Moved to their fibre bb option about 1-month ago - went from 3mb/s to around 75mb/s so now very fast as fibre bb is only range dependant from BT's green cabinet NOT their phone exchange.

3Mb is more than enough to stream video, maybe it's his router or wi fi that isn't up to speed?

I'm not with Sky so I don't know but can't you get a fibre product through them? Sounds like not but perhaps worth looking into.

Seeing as they (Zen) are based in Rochdale you would have thought they'd know were Manchester was :shock:

The provider might not make a difference if the problem is noise on the line.
If the current provider is ADSL and you can find one that's ADSL 2, then that will speed things up. They just upgraded my parents exchange and they went from 2 to 6 MB.

What speed is the router connected at? I had sky connected at 6 meg in my last house, but in the evenings, it ran at a crawl. The sky network is overloaded IMO.
