This would massively pi$$ me off and inconvenience me more than normal.
At the moment, I can collect from the depot, which is just around the corner (maybe half a mile or something). It's open from 7-12 so I usually pick things up in the morning on the way to work. One day a week it's open till 8pm, which is Wednesdays and suits me fine given that I do most ordering at the weekend or on monday so usually arrives by then.
The problem is neighbours. One side is fine but they're not always in. We've loved with them for years and get on okay. The other side we have Romanian pigs (not to say all are). There are maybe 12 in that house. Black bags lined the streets until I had to call the council. It kerbed for a bit but they're repeat offenders. They speak English until it becomes convenient for them to forget how to do so. In the initial stages, packages by couriers were often left to them which caused me no end of misery. They deny receipt until you show them the card. Then they gie you the box which has been ripped opened. You then have to check everything's there. Usually everything has been opened and touched/fiddled with. I have toyed with the idea of sending them a surprise in the post but I don't want to risk my GMC licence.
RM can piss right off if they think they can deliver to my neighbours.
Currently, I get things sent to work where possible.

The very nice Polish chaps next door have accepted countless items on my behalf. I'd feel bad dumping even more of my deliveries on them though.

I wouldn't mind our neighbours holding our deliveries, but it's a bit of a PITA for them, assuming they're in of course. The biggest issue is some companies don't believe our house exists.

There are actually only 7 houses in my street. 3 are currently unoccupied (being refurbed), 3 contain people who work 9-5. So they're not going to have much luck with the thing for anyone in my street really are they?

The same as when I was in the UK. My neighbours used to accept stuff for me and vice-versa. The same in Germany.

It depends of your neighbourhood and how well you get on with your neighbours
Where i used to live I would probably not want anything left as a large percentage of the street was tenants who came and left with remarkable frequency but now I get on with all of them and would have no issues with any of them accepting stuff

"opt out" means putting a sticker in your window to let the posty know. I've just had the flier through explaining it.

Just requested the sticker, I hate the thought of continually going next door to ask for my stuff Of course the flip side is we can no longer take stuff in for them
