I have now completed my Global Corporate Challenge for 2012. It involved using a pedometre to count steps over a 16 week period. We could also include biking and swimming.

My daily average was 10,476 and the team average was 8,145 Ironically the days I did the most steps was when I was out drinking.

I've been swimming since 21st July. Started off doing 20/30 lengths but have been doing 40 since 18th August.

:D

If anyone is interested the picture below charts my progress.

Why? The steps I take each day would be the same. Actually because I am a smoker they are more as I have to walk down 8 flights of stairs to get outside to have a smoke

Was this something you chose to do, or were you "encouraged" by an enthusiastic manager or just sheer weight of peer pressure?

By a staggering coincidence, the Discovery Channel showed footage of a shark an average of 10,476 times last month!

It's not anything we're pressured to do - we do it to try and improve our health. I did it last year and it can get quite competitive as you can follow other teams within the company. A lot of people don't complete it as they loose interest. It's up to the team leaders to encourage people.

One way they chart your progess is to total the team steps and convert that to how far you've walked across the globe. My team walked from London to Greece.

So how many pub trips are the equivalent of London to Greece? ;)

My company did something similar a couple years back.
The winners were insane, they cycled from Cardiff to London to get their prize :S

We don't go anywhere. Just wear pedometers and monitor swimming and cycling.

I was just about to do the same again. This is such a misleading thread, full of false hope...

I think what happened was that since the last tapatalk update it now shows that I have loads of unread threads. I must have replied to them not realising the date.
