Oddly, I have always liked names like, Molly, Holly, Daisy, Aggie, Freddie, Ellie, Ollie for children. Not sure why, names that end in "-y" sound are nice.
Perhaps it's 'cos I'm an Amy??

I always said if I had a daughter I would name her Lilly or Lillian after my Nan or Aunt. |

I strongly suggest you do not call her lilly, I knew a lilly and she had an extremely rough time and got heavily bullied at school cos her name was lilly. people (everyday) took the piss out of her just cos its same as flower etc. horrible that you really have to watch what you name your kids

As said in the other thread, think about the name which may last a lifetime. I see some parents name their kids with baby-ish names which sound ridiculous when they're adults. It makes me think of them as kids rather than adults and semiconsciously affects my management too. I'm a doctor. Think how other people will consider them. This is all I suggest. If you still go ahead with Molly having considered the issues, I'll be happy. |

It's a name, as soon as someone names their child it's a name, just a label, not an indication of their future. There's no reason Molly (or any of the other names hypothesised) should be considered babyish or otherwise as people grow up. Some of the best names are the ones people were probably advised against. Name her whatever you and your lovely lady choose, she's your baby and you can pretty much guarantee that at some point (probably between 13-16 years) she'll hate it, so give her more than one to choose from. Amy never used to be a name, it was a shortening of Amelia, same for my sister who is a Beth and spent the early part of her adult life explaining that it's not Elizabeth, but it's my name and unfortunately my parents never gave us middle names so there was no choice. Last year I changed my named by deed poll to include two middle names, one of them is considered "stupid" by people who don't know the reason for it, but it's mine now, legally and nobody can take it away. |
