My mum once told me that it was a very nervous time back then. Everyone thought that they were going to be dead within weeks.

I don't think I was even aware of the cold war until the Berlin wall fell. But then I wan only 10ish at the time.

I was aware during the mid seventies when they had the Protect and Survive campaign and we all had to prepare for a nuclear strike.
