In order to tidy up things for tapatalk & mobile users what do people think about merging some forums?

Proposals would be to merge:
PC hardware & software forums
Mac hardware & software forums
Network & Internet forums

Also open for other ideas (e.g. merge them all to a single technical support thread etc)

I'd be happy with a 'PC' forum and 'Mac' forum rather than separate hardware/software ones. Also for me For Sale and Wanted could just become a single 'For Sale and Wanted.'

I'd rather the two Mac forums were kept separate. Makes it quicker to find stuff and I'd assume the same was true of the PC ones. I very rarely look at Network or Internet so have no idea if they are better off combined.

I don't use a mobile or tablet to access this site. Is it really so complicated compared to accessing on a Mac/PC? Is it just a question of screen size?

It's mainly things like tapatalk which make you drill down from the top to find things. It'd remove a click/press

What's the percentage of Tapatalk to browser use? If you are looking to your audience to drive how you arrange the forum, then that's your starting point.

I am mostly a Tapatalk user, but I've not noticed a drill-down problem over what I do when using a web browser.

Really, what I'd like to see is people posting iPad and iPhone problems somewhere other than the Mac forum. These aren't really Macs in the strictest sense of the word.

Also - is there something you can add to the forum which makes my entries say what I intend to say, as opposed to what autocorrect tends to construct in my behalf? :-D

While I use Tapatalk on my iPhone and iPad I can find what is necessary. I will go with the majority on what ever they decide.

Tapatalk usage is low but there's not a massive user-base that are logged in regularly so it's potentially 20% of the frequent visitors.

Merging stuff would also shrink the number of forums on the screen (useful for tablets and lower end kit).

As we don't get massive amounts of new posts in each it may reduce the confusion of where to put things (as people dump stuff in the meeting place as they get confused)

Agreed that there are too many subforums. I tend to not venture into the mac forums, don't think I've been into the programming forum and tend to use meeting place/news/games the most.

Better to go PC/Mac rather than Hardware/Software but is there a way to differentiate between the threads ie know which one is hardware/software just by looking at the thread title/icon? Happy with Networking/Internet too.

I don't have any problems with merging hardware/software forums and perhaps also the Internet/Networking forums as well.

Since I check every forum, it would be easier for me if there were fewer of them. I'd be happy with everything under one heading!

I only check latest unread via tapatalk, so it makes little odds to me.

That is how I usually find the threads that I respond to with tapatalk.

This, for me.

I don't think we get the traffic in the software/hardware forums to justify both. Also the Internet is a network, is it not?

Then again, I think that if we didn't have categories it would make reduce a click in Tapatalk. Not sure if this is possible?

We could just have Hardware and Software forums, with maybe an icon to differentiate Mac from PC (dunno if that's feasible, let alone doable).
To placate the haters of iOS posts in the Mac forum adding iOS & Android to the Gadgets, Phones & Gizmos (and losing the '& Gizmos' from the title) might work.
For Sale and Wanted could merge.
I suspect Internet could merge with Networking.

Just ideas. (8+)

I've always assumed Internet was about markup. Without trying to confuse markup with programming, perhaps they would both sit together.
