Don't know if anyone actually buys MP3s from amazon here.
But would you object to having to install a piece of software to download your purchase. Just re-read this and thought iTunes. I object to that too personally.

Presumably they all just want to tie you in to their own system so you but more stuff from them. Silly of me to think otherwise, that we have the right to just download our paid for music easily without installing more cr*p

I might consider it. The 250 000 track limit suits me, as I have nearly 60 000 music tracks and that is well above the iTunes Match limit.

I buy the odd track (yes I purchase music folks) and have used their software to download. Don't see any problem with it *shrugs*

It is needed for their cloud player. You can upload the music you already own and listen to it on other device from the cloud. Same as iTunes and Google Music.
