Post subject:  What doctors won't do

Not really a news item so posting here. Basically a few different doctors got asked a question and gave their reply.

… have a full health check
… go into hospital with dementia
… have my first child at home
… have a prostate cancer test
… sunbathe
… use steroids unnecessarily
… have a virtual colonoscopy
… have an operation I didn't need
… have my veins stripped
… take sleeping tablets
… follow a low-carb diet
… drink coffee or alcohol in pregnancy
… use alternative therapies
… have the flu jab
… have cosmetic surgery
… see a counsellor
… refuse vaccinations
… dismiss alternative medicine
… use homeopathy
… have conventional IVF
… have a screening mammogram
… have surgery at the end of my life

In all honesty, I've always tried to avoid doing/taking things. I try an avoid even just paracetamol for headaches/pains unless I can't cope - the maximum is probably 32 tablets in an entire year. I either try and bear through it or try and manage with rest/fluids/avoid technology.

Even in the Ponderances thread, I'm having investigations. The surgeon is probably keen to cut, whereas I'm happy to avoid surgery.

What about you guys? Is there anything you'd try and avoid? Is there anything on the list that surprises you about these doctors' beliefs?

No mention of smoking there.

Yes, I was very surprised to learn that there is such a thing as a virtual colonoscopy.
And I'm neither surprised nor enchanted to learn that the real thing is better :(

Me too, but I'm getting old... After years of controlling my gout with my diet, that no longer works and I have to take tablets, blood pressure too high now as well... :(
