The rather splendid Viewmaster box is designed to hold the viewer and some reels. Around 50, I'd guess. by Paul Dunning, on Flickr

I found this on Saturday (we had to drop into to town on the way to the in-laws), and so I had it with me when we arrived. They decided that they’d like to give me the money for it as a birthday present, So that was good of them.

The reels cover views of various parts of the world, some fairy stories and some religious stories (basically stuff about Jesus).

I only had a red one in the 80s, but those Thundercats and Thomas The Tank Engine discs were amazing ;)

One disc has a photo of Richard Nixon when he was vice president. I also have Little Black Sambo.

How PC is LBS, there seems to have been multiple versions as a result of various commentators getting their 15 minutes.

1. You have to wonder just how far a Pulp Fiction toy line will be taken.

2. It's from a company known for including dioramas and accessories

Google just made texting on Android more like WhatsApp | TechRadar

I only use texts for the few people who aren't on Whatsapp, and indeed if Facebook really go too far... The carriers should be happy that this might bring people back to 'unlimited texts' and all that fakery, even if they will lose out on pic money. [LIFTED].

Yeah, SSD prices have been climbing for months - 120/128GB drives are going for the same price as 240/256GB drives a year ago. Same story with 500GB drives - they could be had for £90 and were often down to £75-£80 in Amazon deals 6 months ago, but now £100-£110 is considered a bargain.

Tin foil hat time - I remember a news article a year or so back claiming a NAND shortage was on the cards, and everyone (myself included) rolled their eyes and cited the great DRAM shortage price hikes. "The factory fire was an accident, your honour".

In fairness, they announced this a while ago, they've just actually started doing something more overt about it.
Yes, this'll be a pain for some enthusiasts but a fair number of people get whatever version of Windows they use when they by a new laptop or PC so it's unlikely to have a massive impact on a lot of people anyway. I guess it could bug enterprise customers who were downgrading new PC's that came with '10 to '7.
If you really want to use Kaby Lake or Ryzen CPU's without going for Windows 10 then the wonderful world of Linux awaits.

I'm willing to bet this can be circumvented with a registry hack.

Intel announced this, when they released Skylake. They aren't making drivers for Windows 7 and 8.1 for these generations. They relented a bit, making drivers for specific models (we still buy Fujitsu Lifebook and Esprimo PCs with Windows 7 installed at work, although we are now swapping to Windows 10, where we can).

For Kabylake, there are simply no drivers for the processors and new motherboards coming from Intel. It means that Windows 7 might work, but it might be unstable and it might not take advantage of processor and board features, such as USB 3.0, USB 3.1, NVMe etc.
