Hmm. Changed my password this morning, came to log in here this evening (different PC) and it was claiming I'd made too many unsuccessful login attempts. It's possible the hackers have scraped the pages for account names and are trying to 'brute force' passwords, so I'd suggest nice secure passwords if you're changing.

Jon

Changed mine last night, but no warning message this morning.

Do you think it is worth the admins having a scan of the passwords to see if any have particularly weak passwords advising them to change them?
They should all be hashed, nobody should be able to view any of the passwords.

Mark

Correct.

We can't see any passwords

Why has tapatalk started asking me to log in every time rather than remembering my login details for this site? Bloody annoying.

I appreciate that, but is there a way for users of weak passwords to be told to improve them?

Only when they change their password.

Yeah, I'm getting that every time in Chrome on windows. Haven't tried tapatalk yet.

Anyone know how to make chrome forget a saved password, just in case it's that that is tripping it?

Assuming it's the same on a PC, open "Settings", then click on "Advanced Settings" and scroll down to the "Passwords and Forms" section...

Image

Clicking on "Manage saved passwords" should show individual entries for each site - select and delete it.
(apologies if the PC version is different, the above snapshot is from my Mac)

You might also have to remove the cookie for x404 too, again this can be done individually, rather than removing all cookies.

If they're unsalted I guess the admins could try and crack the hashes using rainbow tables or similar, but if they're salted it's (even more of) a complete waste of time. You can't tell from a hash how strong a password is.

Have you tried removing x404 from TapaTalk and then adding it afresh?
(I realise this is the equivalent of "Have you tried turning it off and on again?", but worth a try?)

The simplest way is to simply hit the delete key when it brings up the username.

Same here. Only problem I had was making sure password manager had updated.
