smashed it on concrete slipping out hands, I think my contacts and lots of my pics are on the phone itself rather than the SIM, it switches on for short while then randomly cuts out really worried I lose those phone numbers

Tried it on a charge? Also, are you sure it didn't back stuff up to a card of some description?

took out battery and left it out for a bit, 5 mins then put back in and it seems to work fine now

Now might be time to either move the contacts onto the SIM card or backup another way (sync to PC, cloud backup, even a series of snapshots if that phone can do that). Or a good old pen and paper backup!

Mine are all on the computer and cloud. So no risk. Though backup is essential, what ever method. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk.
