...who would host and who would replace the legendary Sir Patrick? I propose Frankie Boyle for that Diamond vibe, failing that, Dara O'Brien since he's a big geek and funny with it. For the GamesMaster himself... I'll get back to you

If he hadn't been overexposed, I'd go for Stephen Fry.

I like idea of a woman as Gamesmaster. Maybe Miriam Margoyles?

Gosh just thinking about Patrick's voice talking about cheat codes gives me a wave of nostalgia *shudder* I want to go and play Rainbow Island all of a sudden, or The Simpsons game I used to have on the Amiga 500 where I never worked out how to get past level 3. # Boris Johnson as the GamesMaster?

Dara would have to be the Gamesmaster. He's far too tall to present, they'd barely be able to get him and the kids in shot together unless he knelt down. Either him or possibly Craig Charles...
Frankie is probably the nearest thing we have to Dominic Diamond but I don't think any sane mind would trust him with a pre-watershed show. There's a guy whose done some video games stuff on minor channels and the interwebs called Matt Cuttle, I think he'd make a pretty good presenter for it. Have look at EA Update or Spawnpoint on youtube, he's actually quite suited to it.

The time slot and demographic are real curiosities for a show like that these days more than ever! Cuttle's pretty good, and he can bring that blonde along too...

If it is Sian Welby then yes. Thinking about it this would be a good show for Jason Bradbury who can be irritating on Gadget Show but with his love of games might actually be good on GamesMaster as the host.

Cuttle has actually presented shows with both Sian Welby and Kate Heavenor. Bastard . Jason Bradbury might work, however I get the feeling he's the kind of character who would want to wrestle the controller out of the kid's hands if they were doing it wrong.

The problem with Dara etc. as the Games Master is that they are too predictable and well known for having “geek credentials”. When Patrick Moore was the Games Master, it came over as a bit of a left-field solution. The initial reaction was - Patrick Moore? Wow - what a dude! Simply because you would not expect him to make that jump from serious telescope and science person to being part of something which at the time was deemed more frivolous.
You need someone who would give a similar reaction now, which is why my left-field choice (or right-field choice) would be Ann Widdecombe. Why? Well she’s shown that she can laugh at herself beyond the realms of Westminster, and while I don’t agree with her politics, she may have that odd credibility that may garner a similar reaction to the one Sir Patrick got all those years ago.
