Congrats to Spreadie.

Not many entries or votes this month, and I'm guilty of both. Late Winter / early Spring is often quiet for the comp, but perhaps we should consider if it should be continued with. Personally I look forward to the entries to see the interpretation of the theme, and have often submitted something myself. But I've had little motivation to get out there and take pictures recently, even when I've had ideas.

Your thoughts...

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

Keep the comp going, I'm guilty of being lazy or just not having a good idea.

Before binning it altogether, why don't we try extending it to 2 months, so next one would be April/May, closing 31st May (voting for 7 days afterwards), then June/July, etc.

You'd then get about 7 weeks to get some good entries in. A month isn't long enough, especially when voting eats into one week of that, you're left with just over 2 weeks to think about the theme and get out there. For me, those 2 weeks go just like that, and in most people's cases they only have weekends available.

Make it bi-monthly rather than getting rid of it.

I'd like it to continue, even though I have missed a couple of months recently. I still enjoy seeing the entries, and always vote.

When I chose the subject of On The Road for the competition, I was aware that the number of entries each month was declining, so On The Road was meant to have as much potential as possible for everyone's interpretation. After all, there are quite a few motoring fans here and everyone lives near a road. If there are only two entries then I can't see how extending the comp to two months is going to make much difference. In my opinion, the momentum generated by having a deadline would be lost.

I would very much like the competition to continue but we'll need to hear as many views from the folks who didn't enter as possible and perhaps some sort of compromise can be reached.

I invariably forget to vote, but I am all in favour of keeping the vote open for longer. It was a very short vote.

I tend to look at the photos as they are entered so, by the month's end, I have a fair idea of how I'm going to vote; barring a glut of last minute entries. I think a week is long enough to vote. We just need something to encourage people to enter again.

I have already PM'd Matt about my ideas for the next topic.

I'm guilty of neglecting to get an entry in this time, and of not voting.

I'd be in favour of extending to a couple of months. The snag would be it would be easier to forget completely.

It's like the local shop - use it or lose it!

Making it bimonthly seems like a good idea to me. I've only entered a couple of times, but there have been some really notable entries in the past and it's an enjoyable event.

I have never entered, partly through forgetting, but mostly through not being up to scratch. Photography is something that I never learned pre-accident, so is harder for me to start with. I do try and vote if I can.

Well done spreadie.

I'm guilty of not entering this month as well. Had an idea too but didn't quite get round to doing it
I don't see any real advantage in extending to 2 months tbh. The falling number of entries is a little disappointing but I think the problem is apathy so extending the voting or the competition won't solve the problem.

I say leave as is for now and if things don't improve then can it in say 6 months
It's meant to be a bit of fun and if people can't be bothered then so be it. Perhaps having a break will make people rethink things.

There does appear to be enjoyment from the comp, which is a good thing. However no real consensus on what to do, with fors and againsts for bi-monthly comps etc. I'm in two minds with a bi-monthly comp. Yes it gives more time, but it may also dilute interest.

I think we'll continue as is for now, and hope that a little warmth and sunshine in the Northern hemisphere enable people to get out more.

Those who enter should be the main arbiters of how often it should be held. I just need to remember to vote.
